Maya

Maya was my soul dog, heart of my heart.

There were probably never be another Maya, although I am hoping to see another one in my lifetime.

I love all of the dogs I have ever owned, but there was a special connection between Maya and me.

Whenever I traveled by myself, I always took Maya along. She was perfectly friendly when the situation warranted it, but I also knew that if anyone tried to do anything to me at all, Maya would take them down first… and ask questions later.

If someone wanted to pet her, it was fine with her as long as it was fine with me. She was the only Kuvasz I have ever known— much less ever owned— that was reliable off-lead. I could call her to me and, no matter where she was, she always came.

She was almost eleven when she went to the Rainbow Bridge. I can’t talk more about her right now, but not because there isn’t more to say. I still get emotional over it… even though she has been gone since January of 2004.
